Rules & Regulations

  • All library users must abide by all library rules and regulations.
  • The library reserve the right to warn anyone disobeying any library rules and regulations and will not hesitate to take further action.
  • Only registered members approved by the Library Officer are allowed to use the Library.
  • Eating, smoking and sleeping is not permitted anywhere in the library at all times.
  • Absolutely no food or drink is allowed in the reading and public areas of the library.
  • Good behaviour must be maintained at all times and noise level must be kept down. Anyone with disruptive behaviour will be asked to leave the library.
  • Library users must try to maintain proper dress sense with complete cleanliness and modesty.
  • Damaging, tearing off pages and making marks on any library is a serious offence and will be brought to the attention of the UTB Director.
  • Bags, cases, etc must be deposited locker provided by the library.
  • Removing any library belongings or moving them to other spots without permission is not permitted.
  • Anyone found to be taking items without permission or without any valid loaning record can be accused of theft and will be brought to the attention of the UTB Management/Dean of Student Affairs.
  • Any items taken from the shelves must be returned on any book trolleys or on any empty spaces on the book shelves.
  • All library users must maintain complete cleanliness in the library and ensure that alh1ables and chairs are kept tidy after use. Any litter must be thrown in the bin provided.
  • The library will not be responsible for any personal items left unattended inside and outside the library.
  • Membership payments from external users and from lost/damaged library items will only be accepted between 8.00am to 12.00pm during working days

Membership

  • This is opened to:
    • UTB Academic and Non-Academic Staff, Students and Support Staff ;
    • Academic Staff and Students of UBD, MTSSR and MKJB (through JALINAN Inter Library Loan) ;
    • Civil servants of the Government of Brunei Darussalam and the local private sectors through External Membership.
  • All user categories are required to:
    • Complete an application form and submit to the library;
    • Produce one passport sized photograph ;
    • Payment for the ID card:
      • UTB membership B$ 5.00 (students will pay during registration day)
      • External membership B$ 10.00
  • External Membership
    • Pay a deposit of B$100.00 which is refundable (upon presentation of the original receipt at the time of request for membership termination).
    • A letter of recommendation from the employer.
    • Membership cards will be issued for a period of one year.
  • Any loss of membership cards must be reported to the library. The following replacement cost applies:
    • UTB membership B$10.00
    • External membership B$ 20.00

 

Overdue Fines

A charge of 20 cents per day for books and 50 cents per day for audio visual will be imposed for any items returned after the due date.

Lost / Damage Library Items

It is the responsibility of each borrower to report immediately to the library if any items borrowed under his/her card is found missing/damaged. A charge will be imposed according to the price of the book when purchased plus an admin fee of B$5.00.
