Welcome Message

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim
Assalamualaikum Warrahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

Welcome to Universiti Teknologi Brunei.

Happy New Year 2021. We will remember 2020 as the year of COVID-19 pandemic, which has brought so many changes and challenges to our daily lives. It also presents a great opportunity when our university has to quickly adapt and make necessary adjustments according to the changes during this period, and to strategise well in ensuring that the university could continue to operate and still produce a high-quality experience for both staff and students.

Alhamdulillah, since August 2020, we have opened our campus and have continued to adapt both virtual and face to face learnings. We still exercise SOP for COVID-19, scanning BruHealth codes and temperature checks in 3 main locations on UTB campus.

Now allow me to briefly introduce Universiti Teknologi Brunei. It was established in 1986 as Institut Teknologi Brunei, it first offered Higher National Diplomas (HND) in Business, Engineering and Computer Science. It was later upgraded to a university on 18th October 2008 and renamed to Universiti Teknologi Brunei on 1st March 2016. Today, it offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes from Faculty of Engineering (FEng), UTB School of Business (UTB SB), School of Computing and Informatics (SCI), School of Applied Science and Mathematics (SASM), School of Design (SDe) and Centre for Communication, Teaching and Learning (CCTL). UTB has 3 research centres namely Centre for Transport Research (CfTR), Centre for Innovative Engineering (CIE) and Centre for Research on Agri-Food Science and Technology (CrAFT).

We will soon expect traffic of applicants to our university. I hope you will choose UTB and it is definitely the BEST university to embark on your academic journey that will define your future career. We uphold our mission that is:

“To nurture socially responsible talents deeply rooted in MIB values, and committed to buikding a global and entrepreneurial society inpursuit of innovation, industry-relevant capabilities, towards the fulfillment of Vision 2035.”

Lastly, I would like to emphasise that producing marketable graduates is still the most important agenda of our university.  Our curriculum has to remain dynamic, strategic and at par with world’s best practices in order to meet the demands of global job market. While at UTB, they will be able to develop a range of attributes and skills for life and work. Insya’Allah, our graduates will become integral part of our nation’s growth and development.

Stay safe everyone, thank you.

Wabillahi Taufik Wahidayah Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
